Had a meeting today in a stark white windowless office with my technical team and a developer teleconferencing in via a cyclops clad camera that sat on top of a monolithic flat screen monitor. The developer’s monotonic drone piping from the monocled device at the end of the conference table reminded me so much of the HAL 9000 supercomputer in 2001: A Space Odyssey. For a moment I had an eerie feeling we were on the Discovery space ship heading to Jupiter rather than being on terra firma and in our cubicle clad offices.
